Alcohol & Final Lap
Alcohol & Final Lap I just got news that a good friend of mine, Donald, died this AM. He was 41 years old and could not or would not kick his alcohol problem. We were racing buddies; he crewed for me for a while in the 90’s. In 2011 we raced an off-road car together, the first, and only, pro race he drove in. I have offered one of my checkered flags to his mom to go with him. People, if you can’t control what you do just don’t fucking do it. When you die it effects the people who care about or need you. He is leaving 5 without a father. I may post more about him later. Below is a pic of the car in action When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. |

It canreally mess people up if they can't handle it smartly. We did have a great time doing this race. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Thank you. He may get one of the checkered flags I won while he was crewing for me. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Redrockrascal - I was sorry to read your post and for the loss of your friend, so young. I have lost several family members to the addiction of alcohol and drugs. I am the only one who never drank or tried any drug ever, and I was estranged from the family members who were addicted and dependent. Those I am referring to are two brothers, one died at age 36 the other at age 51; a nephew at age 41 was found in his car deceased from an overdose of heroin. Both of my parents are gone resulting from alcohol related illnesses. I have an older sister left, she is 67 and in poor health due to a lifetime of alcohol abuse. I had a conversation with her daughter, my niece who is a registered nurse. She told me that if her Mother stopped drinking she will die, that's how bad it is. Apparently the body suffers so bad from lack of alcohol that the organs shut down. She has been in treatment a number of times over the years without success. So there's nothing more that can be done for her. Yes, it is easy to say "if you can't fucking control what you do, then don't do it" but sometimes that is simply impossible. What a shame that your friend is leaving behind five innocent children... Hugs to you Red....{=} {=} KCClaire When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
