I love Christmas still. Love the Christmas songs and could listen to it year around. I love the spirit people get in. The unexpected hugs from co-workers who are wishing you a merry season. The bus drivers whistling xmas carols. The happiness you feel when you give someone a great present. The joy of getting together with friends and family to share a meal. The silly crafts the day program makes with my son. The lights and decorations. The twinkling of the xmas tree. THESE are the joys of xmas for me.

holidays are an artificial construct ,now they serve to boost materialistic spending and stroke fake emotion .I prefer deeply spiritual days of appreciation and reflection.I reject our sad culture and the direction it has taken most people .thanks giving could be ok , if crazy family pressure to conform can be left behind and a simple meal can be shared with others . escape the matrix be free, help others in tangible ways and show gratitude not attitude

To me, it has always been the Fourth of July. That day represents a farewell to the finest time of the year, April through June, and the anticipatio of the lazy summer to come. Nothing beats that day of friends, family, fireworks, hot dogs and cold beer. People are strange when you're a stranger."

Christmas, most importantly because it's the day we celebrate the birth of the Saviour, secondly I love that family and friends get together. My kids are all over the country and the world but they all manage to get here. I start celebrating with my friends the week before and we go usually until the 26th or 27th. Skiing, ice skating, bon fires, ice fishing sledding...it's all good. Oh, and the food. All my girls are great cooks. Wonderful time.
