the devil made me do it......
the devil made me do it...... with my Man away, i am doing a lot of reading. i just finished a "bus" book - a fun read - a thriller but it started me thinking. have you ever met someone that just made the hairs on your arm stand up and your stomach roll over? i met a woman about a year ago. a work connection. someone who is deemed by most to be a "wonderful human being". when i shook her hand, i literally felt my energy drain. she was like a black hole, sucking it away. i watched her throughout the evening. engaging with people, animated and laughing - but each time she would move away from someone, her face would change, go dead. around ten that night, i went out to the balcony to have a cigarette and she was there, leaning on the balustrade. at first she didn't notice me and her eyes were blank and there was a sort of ugly purse to her mouth. when she spotted me, it was like she slipped a mask on and suddenly she was smiling and light and sooooo happy to have a chance to chat. i tell you, i wanted to run......... i've never heard anything bad about this person. and i have no reason other than my gut to think that she is not as advertised. but i hope i never see her again. i remember my Dad once telling me to stay away from a particular family member. he said she was the devil incarnate. she was. do you think there are people out there that are just ... "wrong"? evil? You cannot conceive the many without the one. |

Yep. My current boss is one of those people. I've known him for 13 years. I've finally figured out that I can work with him, but not for him, which I've had the 'pleasure' of doing twice in my life -- the last time which I gave up my thriving consulting business to do so. Silly, huh? In 11 days, I will finally be out from beneath his oppressive thumb. Oh, and he thinks Bush, Rush, Hannity, et al are geniuses.

think about the "just wrong" of the serial killer types who no one ever said a bad word about and could charm anyone. She may not be a SK, but definitley wears a mask. Next best thing to perfect

Yup, there are truly evil people in the world...there was a therapist around town for a period of years who was the definition of evil...she could suck all of the air out of the room in about thirty two seconds and have everyone in the room at each others throats... So, yes they exist....and, you have to be very, very careful around them.

I can totally relate to you. As a child my brother and I went to a social gathering with my father. There was a woman there who as soon as i shook her hand, somethign just felt really wrong...almost evil. I know that might sound overly dramatic but its true. I told my brother afterwards about it and he confided in me that he'd felt the same thing. My dad didnt believe us, but from that day on i've never met anyone with that well for lack of a better description,:negative aura"

i have met some people that are much like the woman you describe. All smiling and nice on the outside but plotting and scheming on the inside. They are hurting and want to hurt others so that they can make themselves feel better. Or maybe it's because they feel like i am miserable then so should everyone else be. And often it is not something that person has said or done to cause me to feel that way. It is just that there is feeling about them that raises alarm bells inside me. if my inner voice warns me to stay away from a person, male or female, i heed it and avoid them.

Masks can also be protective.
