a bird in the hand is better than a Bush
a bird in the hand is better than a Bush my Man is kind of a science freak. and kind of a political freak. last night we were sitting on his deck and he said the soft wind was coming from the pacific. how he knew that - i have no idea. but the wind was soft and damp and tropical feeling. by the time i left it was definitely coming from somewhere else. cold and biting. the political discussion last night was about Deval Patrick, who will quite likely be the next governor of Massachusetts. the first democrat to hold that position in years. odd that we always vote in a republican governor. D is not voting for him. he had some good reasons...not the crap that Healey's been spouting. legitimate reasons. D had been at a business meeting on Friday evening with a group of heavy hitters and, one of them is a delightful man with a keen sense of humor. he mentioned that having met Hillary, he was less inclined to dismiss her as a viable president. D loathes Hillary with an intensity that is almost pathological. Guido kept touting her strengths, just waiting for D to explode. grins here are my questions: would you vote for Hillary? would you vote for a woman? is there a democrat out there somewhere who is a truly viable candidate? or will the democrats shoot themselves in the foot like they always do? You cannot conceive the many without the one. |

Those are the questions.... we so very badly need to change the direction of this country but I'm not seeing the right candidate yet. the joke has always been when democrats form a firing squad, they form a circle.... I probably wouldn't vote for Hillary because she'll bring out the GOP inquisition squad... but yes I would vote for a woman. It is time.

Unfortunately, I haven't voted FOR someone in a lonnng time. I find myself voting against someone. Sad, huh? Yes, I'd vote for anyone if I thought they have what it takes. With the mess we're in, it's going to go badly for any Democrat, if one wins the presidency. What a legacy to inherit. If anyone can get us out of the Iraq fiasco, I'd think it might be Wes Clark. It would be nice to have a Rhodes scholar as president once again, rather than a C student. But he doesn't have a prayer. Is it so much a case of Dems shoting themselves in the foot, or massive voter fraud?

My problem with Hillary is she is a manager and not a leader...a very smart, articulate manager, but a manager just the same...That was the problem with Gore and Kerry...both managers... The Republicans have three pretty strong candidates running around and I don't see anyone on the Dems side...Also, if the Dems take over Congress I fully expect the Liberal wing to go crazy and give the Republicans more than enough ammo to have the Republicans win in 08....The Dems have not figured out how to play in the middle of the road...with the exception of Bill Clinton...they play to their base way too hard...

I would vote for a woman - and if I felt she were the best candidate - I would vote for Hillary. Will they shoot themselves in the foot - the next few months will tell the story to that - if they take control of the House -( likely) and get close in the senate - they have to prove they can attempt to govern from the house and not go on a witch hunt - yes it is time to get some answers to some question ie halliburton contracts- but do not even think of any vindictive or impeachment type scenarios - and I don't say this because I am a big Bush supporter - but that is the perfect way to turn the gun back on themselves - the country doesnt need that shit. Next best thing to perfect

At first I thought Hillary was a ray of hope. She was driving, naively, but perhaps passionately for universal health care. She wanted more equality for homosexuals. She admitted she was patterning herself after Elenor Rooseveldt; so I thought great thoughts about Hillary. But since she became senator her voice has been like any other democrat: bitching as they go along with Bush. Politically, so doesn't represent anything solid to the majority of Americans. HOwever, I do think there is a strong democratic ticket out there. Gore for President and Obama for Vice-President. Gore has grown his passion for one of the most important issues this nation and the world must face: the ruination of our life support systems. the only other issue of more importance is Population control, but the world isn't ready to tackle that one yet. I think Al Gore would make a pretty good to a great president who could define and lead this nation back to healing the world rather than destroying it while Obama could be the fire of integrity this nation so desperately needs.

I'm not defending Hillary, but if I were a state senator and the two largest buildings in my state had just come down, I'd have anything but a pleasant look on my face. And why WERE they up there doing that?

Nothing wrong with a woman being president... as long as she doesn't expect special treatment because she is one and is actually capable of doing the job. Seems that Britian had a lady that was more than up to it not long ago.

I had met Hillary a number of years ago and was quite impressed with her intelligence and knowledge. That being said, I don't feel that she is the right person to be our next president as I feel that this country needs as a president someone who will begin to heal the wounds of the past 6 years and bring the country together. Unfortunately, Hillary is a very polarizing figure and I don't see her as the person to heal this country's wounds. If a qualified woman was running for president and I thought she would be the best person for the job, I'd have no problems voting for her. Right now, I feel that Al Gore is the best qualified candidate, and I think he could also bring the country together again and move us in the direction we need to go. I'm open to others right now, but I DEFINITELY want someone as president who I feel will be able to again bring this country back together again and not have us so polarized as His Assholiness has done.

It is always hard to make a judgement about the leadership of another country. Margaret Thatcher did as much harm as she did good in Britain and I never voted for her. Almost everyone overseas simply sees her as a great leader, and in balance she was certainly as capable as any male PM. The Clintons have been the most able couple you have had in the White House since the Roosevelts. I would say Hillary would certainly not do a bad job of running your country, and there is a lot of evidence that women who get there make damned fine leaders ...... Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Golda Meir .... warm xx

think about this, the repubs own the senate, the house, the cia basically and the whole oil industry and had the abulity to turn our country into their weapon of choice against their competitors, and somehow the public couldnt believe the first time W went into office was rigged when his brother was govenor of the state that decided it... I believe if Gore was in office, we NEVER would have been attacked, because the mddle east saw what was coming and were sending out a 911 warning cause they KNEW better from dealing with the Bushes then to not go down fighting.. only in hindsite wil anyone ever prove this, but look at the clues and you might agree especially if you have ever watched the movie on 911 by the guy who did the comlumbine movie and won an oscar for his investigative style look withhis camarea whats his name I forget.. ahem and now the reps own the war, and it is all about oil if you listen to them, they say all us "dems" would be complaining just as loud about the prices of oil if not for what they did.. bullshit.. I would vote green, but not enough in American Politics to really have a chance the way it is rigged. If not for the repubs, the tax incentives would have been there to encourge us to get OFF their family farm products... . Check it out for yourself.. and get pissed... The damn oil companies reported the highest profits ever, last quarter.. AND we all are paying for the inflation with increased costs of bread and milk etc, all attributed to gas prices... hell yeah, any vote for a dem, is a vote for change!

It is attainable, with all the dcomissiond ilitary ships joined togehter, into floating islands you could create a new continent. Additionally, the scence labs they could build there, coule become fish hatcheries to help repouplate the worlds oceans away from development and polution.. all the "so called leaders" in politics today are too busy jocking for whos ass is gonna be kissed first to worry about leading this country..
