the birds and the bees...........
the birds and the bees........... i did a walking meditation this morning in the woods at a nearby nature preserve. it was very early - around 5:00AM and the place was deserted except for the the critters and the birds. i chose a path based on my breath. at any given juncture inhale was left, exhale was right. and i moved slowly, deliberately, each step a breath, each breath a step. the noises became distinct, clarified by being present. so many different bird songs, small scuffles in the pine needles..... while i walked, my eyes drank it the thousand colors of green. silvered nearly white to the deep forest moss. fiddle head ferns - nearly black in their greeness. a maple differnt from an oak, differnt from a cypress....... exhale right and i emerged from the woods into a meadow, soft and damp and steaming from the first rays of the sun. the smell was so sweet. now the whirr of insects joined the symphony as my feet sent them into the air. a fat bumblebee kept pace with me for a few minutes and then circled off to find a more fragrant friend. inhale left and the sound of water over stone, the brook swollen from the recent rain but so clear that every stone was distinct and separate, almost outlined... and another left across the small bridge and another left as i walked into the sun and felt my body loosen. the breath, the steps. an hour later i was back at my beginning... i gave praise and let out a loud whoop of joy. this is what the world is....... or what it can be........... namaste You cannot conceive the many without the one. |

It makes perfect sense to me Margie. I yearn for the days when I can move out of this hellashish hell hole. I want to have trees, meadows, hills of green, nature at it's pure unadulterated essence. I want to be able to be one with nature and marvel at it's beauty and harmony. I desire that peace more than anything dear friend, more than anything, and so does the Mrs. Here we are trapped in a sea of concrete, glass, sand, clay, and heat. It is much easier to meditate or spend time in mental prayer when your setting has your back. But, for now this is my struggle, and I shall persevere until my dreams become reality. Always, Andy

Awakened at 5 am this morning at my 'rents place in my little home town. The morning birdsong was in full force, and as I waited for the "coffee" to finish (my parents still drink Folgers) two cats and I watched two female hummingbirds battle over the best hole into which to dip their beaks for the sweet nectar my mother had provided them... Made Me Laugh Dept: this week, I saw a t-shirt that said "Namaste, Motherfucker!" I want one.

Thank you for the little journey with Nature. She always refreshes and inspires when I can calm myself to listen to her more subtle songs of life. नमस्ते (namaste)

Oddly, I awakened this morning from a dream in which I was saucily wearing my "Namaste Motherfucker" t-shirt, and I received a cease-and-desist letter from the attorney of the woman who invented the phrase over copyright infringement. I can't say I've ever dreamed about A F F goings-on before. So I got up, was making coffee, and this morning saw the male hummingbird dipping in and out of the honeysuckle...his little red throat blazing in the morning light.
