the brotherhood of man
the brotherhood of man today our country celebrates its independence. the word has so much power in it...independence. i think of what it means to my guests...a key to a room or an apartment, a job, a place to call their own. what it means to our elderly...living on in their own homes, having enough money to survive being retired. what it means to our young people....getting out of your parental home and living.....life. what it means to those fighting for their countries...for independence from tyranny, independence from foreign intervention, safety for their families. for those men and women who choose to serve our country by being soldiers, i offer you my gratitude with a caveat. please, do not assume that your idea of freedom is the only one. or that the only type of government that works is a democracy. keep your independence of thought and question........ all across this country, there will be people coming together to celebrate. let us celebrate the potential that exists still in this great land of ours. and pray that our freedoms that we have labored these Long years to ensure, are not allowed to be abridged by anyone. not even our own government....especially our own government. oh beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain for purple mountains majesty above the fruited plains america, america god shed his grace on thee and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea You cannot conceive the many without the one. |

yes indeed, well said! America the Beautiful. We, the people, truly are blessed. I hope we all can spend a moment or two to give thanks, for our soldiers, for the sacrifices they and their families have made throughout history for our country's sake! Cheri Sometimes we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

To live in the home of the free, to recall on this day what it took to bring it to be. To remember those who have given the fullest measure of devotion and to be aware of those prepared to do so still. To never forget my rights, my freedoms, my own future and the future of my children is only gaurenteed by ongoing vigilance and work. To recall with a grim smile I have never seen a political party on a tombstone. And to pray that we all remember "common sense" was named because the values there were considered to be self evident to all. And to hope this is the election where people will vote neither blue or red but right. Be well and indepedant A/all.
