It must have been cold there in my shadow, to never have sunlight on your face. You were content to let me shine, that's your way. You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory, while you were the one with all the strength. A beautiful face without a name for so long. A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but I've got it all here in my heart. I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it. I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero? You're everything, everything I wish I could be. Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings, 'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings. You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings. Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky, so high I almost touch the sky. Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

a pal said to me the other day "that's only common courtesy" and it started me thinking. i've been around the block a few times and i have to tell you - things are going downhill fast in the courtesy department.
when was the last time someone offered you their seat on a crowded bus? held the door for you as you juggled 6 coffees on your way out of DD? or even just said "good morning"
men over 40 do all of those things - without thinking - taught well by their mothers
young men and women by and large, act as if you are simply an impediment to their day
are we all becoming so self centered, so self involved that the 10 seconds it would take are just WAY too much effort to expend on a fellow human being?
today i saw a mom and her two in the store. an older woman dropped her purse when she tried to reach something on a high shelf. both rushed over to help, followed by their mom.
to Moms who did and still do make sure their exist harmoniously in the world - my thanks and acknowledgment of a job well done and one worth doing well
i also saw a mom slap her for asking to hold a bag of pretzels -
who are you raising?

America's Best High School Essay Analogies and Metaphors i am so worried...
1. John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.
2. She walked into my office like a centipede with 98 missing legs.
3. He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up.
4. It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall.
5. From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 pm instead of 7:30

pick any culture and a favorite food and this still works - grins
An elderly Italian man lay dying in his bed. While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite Italian anisette sprinkle cookies wafting up the stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. With labored breath, he leaned against the doorframe, gazing into the kitchen.
Where if not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite anisette sprinkled cookies.
Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted Italian wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?
Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself towards the table, landing on his knees in a crumpled posture. His parched lips parted, it was as if the wondrous taste of the cookie was already in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life. The aged and withered hand trembled on its way to a cookie at the edge of the table,
. . . . . . . . when it was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife ......
"Back off!" she said, "They're for the funeral."

sent to me by a staff member - grins - course i had to fire her - rotfl
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this should make things a little bit clearer.
IN PRISON..........you spend the majority of your time in an 10X10 cell. AT WORK............you spend the majority of your time in an 8X8 cubicle
IN PRISON.........you get three meals a day. AT WORK...........you get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.
IN PRISON..........you get time off for good behavior. AT WORK............you get more work for good behavior.
IN PRISON..........you can watch TV and play games. AT WORK...........you get fired for watching TV and playing games.
IN PRISON.........you get your own toilet. AT WORK..........you have to share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat.
IN PRISON..........they allow your family and friends to visit. AT WORK............you aren't even supposed to speak to your family.
IN PRISON.........all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required. AT WORK............you get to pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.
IN PRISON..........you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out. AT WORK ...........you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.
IN PRISON .........you must deal with sadistic wardens. AT WORK...........they are called managers
i love my job - that's my story and i'm sticking to it - grins

got an email from this dude
5th or 6th one he's sent
same email every time
not a word varies
it is a foul little piece of communication, one designed to denigrate, full of posturing and self aggrandizement.
it demands. it curses. it assumes.
AND it has a big ol' dick pic.
i was reading Seriously_Real's blog about how to communicate with women on Vision Personals and most of it was right on - and clearly something this man had not yet read.
so, if by any chance he happens across this blog - yes i do mean you.
and, get a grip, a life, some grammar, a clue
but please, no more emails. you make me tired.

i wrote a blog about my beautiful - a man/ fighting the hardest battle of his short life.
when i wrote it - i was not feeling sad
when we cried together, instead of each of us apart, alone - our strength grew and our love was renewed
so, not only women weep despite the song, and when tears are shared, they become something else, they lose their bitterness, and they soothe the soul
thank you all for caring, for supporting
gets up and carries on - cause that's what we do

my is ill, he may not ever be well and i listen, leaning my head against the door to his room, late at night, and hear him weeping in pain
i wrote a haiku for him - and we cried together this is it:
My as a man Waits for the world to see him While the world moves on

there are times when you just don't know if you can make it to the next day. and then you do and you do because someone held your head above water while you flailed. for NightGuy_1961 and NGs lady with love and my profound thanks
When you're weary, feeling small, When tears are in your eyes, i will dry them all; I'm on your side. when times get rough And friends just can't be found, Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.
When you're down and out, When you're on the street, When evening falls so hard I will comfort you. I'll take your part. When darkness comes And pain is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.
Sail on silvergirl, Sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way. See how they shine. If you need a friend I'm sailing right behind. Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind. Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind.

this morning on my early limp, i happened across a group at the local playground - doing taichi as the sun rose
i sat on the damp grass to watch and as i did i began to hear a low thrumming. the combined chi gathering and growing.
i was drawn to watch this one woman, and soon i could see nothing else. her carriage was perfect and her arms flowed slowly, beautifully, inexorably through the motions - a dance of awakening and deep sensuality - so profoundly erotic
as her head tipped to one side and her hips slowly moved through into balance, i felt a quickening in my body, a connection to this woman and at that very moment her eyes opened and she looked into mine
as she moved to hold the air in her perfectly poised hands, my breath caught and she broke kata and moved her hands, shaping the air, and then hands cupping, held it out to me, a slow smile crossing her lips.
i stood and bowed, accepting this gift and feeling my body, alive in every cell, my chi moving down into my belly
a goddess, she inclined her head and moved back into sword form, each movement a work of art
as i walked on, feeling the first rays of the sun on my head, i looked back over my shoulder and this glorious woman was at "embrace the moon" only two moves from completion
i watched her finish. and as she did, she turned and saw me, smiled and waved
i waved back and offered another bow which she returned and then she did the loveliest thing - she raised her arms over her head and her face to the sun and twirled
i laughed out loud and she looked at me and grinned broadly
did i mention she was probably about 75-80? but oh my, something in the way she moved.........

a male friend sent this to me after i kvetched about being older..... so i take no credit for the writing but i will say at 56, i am fabulous.
As I grow in age, I value women who are over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
· A woman over 40 will not lay next to you in bed and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. · If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. · A woman over 40 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 40 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing. · Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it. · Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. · A woman over 40 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 40 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her. · Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. They already know what you did. · A woman over 40 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women or drag queens. · Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. · Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 40+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.
